Caricatures

Very often the top management people are presented in weird descriptions by the junior level.

It often reminds me of a caricature which is sometimes simplified and mostly exaggerated portrayal of features bearing easily identifiable visual likeness with the person.

I got one done for myself once. And what resulted was well of course a caricature exaggerating my high forehead, angular cheek bones, my small nose and tiny eyes. Can you believe I paid for that?

But when I thought about it I realised, that’s what a caricature is supposed to be, a distorted portrayal. The worse part was that everyone could identify that as me.

So, coming back to the bosses, let’s begin with one of the Senior Managers who was painted as “getting paid for throwing puzzles on employees especially girls”. Now, one would think he had nothing better to do. Or another might kill for the profile.

Then there was PB. He was described as getting paid for spitting at others by first pushing them to the end of walls. PB did have a bad habit of hovering, cowering over others so that finally they would hit a wall or something and in the process giving a shower of spit. What gave him the idea that others don’t have showers fitted at home.

The BU Manager was equally charming and quite favoured female employees. He was also well known for managing the seating. How he ended up having all the beautiful girls around his glass cabin was incredible in itself. Once he even managed to make room near the printer for a beautiful fresher. And all the guys were firing prints like there was no tomorrow. The quarter after that, we were cost cutting in printing papers.

Another PM was called Big B by his team. I thought it was Big Brother as he had this weird style of monitoring the in-time and out-time of employees.

Now the same team had to also name their Project Leader and they got thinking. Finally after much rejection he was named Zero B, as he was as good as a Zero and had a habit of filtering things both to his boss as well as his team. And it rhymed with his superior’s nick name, Big B.

By the way the above is nothing but distortion and exaggeration of a bunch of good guys taking good care of their employees and having some peculiar characteristics worth highlighting.
