Good time with pictures

Over the weekend we had lots of fun, our friends had come over. So, it was once again happy fishing, which was followed by god two hours in the Wild Wild Wet, the water theme park at Down Town East and the day was concluded with a grand dinner at the Long Beach in East Coast Park. Amazing food this place offers, Chilli Crab and other Thai delicacies really made our day.

Rubik's CubeI also had some good time over the net playing with my snaps. This fun site http://www.dumpr.net can turn your snaps into a Rubik’s Cube like the one you can see here, or a pencil sketch. I know the same thing can be done using photoshop also but dumpr beats it. Simply fantabulous! You can also see your photos in a museum or make a jig saw puzzle out of it.

Something really funny for a great day ahead:
My 4 yrs old nephew colored some coloring pages and told his mom: Mom, pack this in a file and send this also.
My Sis: where
Urjit: Where there is a big corridor and all photos are there
his mom (no clues)
Urjit: Where you have to keep silent and everyone has to keep looking at them
my Sis: Museum
Urjit: (shouts) Yes!!!

So you see, even he likes the museum one. Are you still reading this post, I thought you are already at it, go ahead have a ball of a time with your snaps or your kid’s snaps. And tell me which one you liked the best!

My brother Bobbo!

BobboOn Rakshabandhan I thought let me do a post on Bobbo, yes, that’s the name. When he was born he was very cute and round, just like all north eastern babies. So, we just started calling him Bobbo. And this became his pet name. I explained this to many people, now it finds its way into this post. His good name is Rameshwar and Ram for friends.

To tell you about him, he is extremely creative and intelligent with an uncanny sense of humor and can make light of any situation, a very popular person among his age group. Since he was a child he did attract many girls, whenever I went for a walk with him, I could only hear Bobbo, Bobbo from all corners of the park and windows. I gather he still has many girl friends.

BobboHis creativity became more evident when he started coming up with all stylish bike drawings with specifications. We thought he would be an automobile engineer some day. We still have all those sketches. Treasured! Then during the last couple of years of school he got into hard rock, metallica and stuff. He got hold of all voice and music software and started some funny band. This band churned out many tracks and our home was there production house. I silently suffered through that phase. (Well, my protests were killed by louder music or whatever it was) I am surprised that the band did manage to sell CDs of their music to their school mates after giving them a taste of it in the seniors’ farewell party. (Teenagers!!!) We were by then not so sure of the automobile engineer part.

He is also very good with sports and professionally trained in swimming, cricket and tennis, we thought that a career in sports might hold some interest for him. Dad would have loved that. He is an all rounder who can play any game from badminton to soccer except for hockey much to Dad’s disappointment.

Then finally came the time for him to chose a career and already he was in his 12th standard. And I must say he is one guy who is immensely confident and sure of himself. He was dead sure that he will be doing Animation in NID. So far his animation tricks were a cartoon movie of himself and my nephew, another one with some karate stunts. They were great but we thought this one will also passé.

And even after a lot of counseling he was not ready to keep an alternative ready. Except him, none of us was as confident as him.

Today he is studying animation in NID, Ahmedabad the one and only prestigious institute of Design in India. And we are sorry bro for not showing enough faith in you.

Getting into NID was a tough one, and ONLY people born with creativity can get through the series and series of test rounds and interviews. He cleared this with an amazingly creative Bike for an Indian Politician, which he chose as our dynamic railways minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav. Did you see how luck can be on one’s side? He who had grown up imagining and dreaming bikes gets a chance to come out with a bike. Creativity at its best. Since it was submitted to the university I don’t have a copy but last I heard was one of India’s biggest company was contemplating the design. Seriously!

He is one great brother who even after being the youngest among us is always so caring, understanding and dependable. His growing up days was fun, we had our share of experience of being a parent with him. He made us proud with all his big and small success in various things that he did. It also broke our heart when he learnt something bad or picked up a bad word. I remember his first bad word for which I slapped him was “BUM”. And today he is out there in this big world where this must be the most innocent word one can utter.

I forgot to tell you about the pics in this post, these are done by him, and whoever even met him once will immediately identify this as him. Yes, I am trying to get one done for myself.

Well as a parting shot read this testimonial from his friend, Saurabh. I just couldn’t help myself from giving this one some space here.

RAMESHWAR KONGKHAM SINGH “SHAOLIN BLUES”
He’s had a course at PJing people to death! so you have to be careful around him!
HE looks utterly innocent & absolutely disciplined from far off at first glance ( APART FROM HIS HAIR, THEY’RE WILD )
but many have fallen into the trap & suffered for not being careful!!
To start with he’s the masta of FL STUDIO! h has created around a 100 songs under a hundred different band names!
He just can’t do anything at all without adding something creative to it!!
A previous band member of CHORDAMAGE he created havoc among the listeners by including a pathetic beat in the charttopper ballad “GUNS & MAGGOTS”!! That was his last mistake though! As he stepped off into the directions of symphonies & acoustic guitar solos along with his pal & assistant ABHIJIT KANTI DEB in anew band by the name INSOMNIA!
THAT IS JUST PART OF HIS STORY!
NEXT!
He absolutely loves to make nonsensical comments at the most unlikely moment!
& loves doing it! that rocks! space over!

Wat Chalong

Wat Chalong PhuketI promised to write a post about it. So here it is.

Wat Chalong is the biggest Buddhist temple in Phuket. The only one that allows visitors to take snaps everywhere in the temples, campus. As soon as we entered the temple premises a sense of calm and peacefulness enveloped us. I immediately got some shots of the temple buildings, there are four temples. We then entered the main temple.

I went inside and offered my prayers kneeling down and joining both my hands just as I would do in any Hindu temple. I noticed there were a few bamboo caskets and some wooden blocks. Others were shaking the bamboo casket and throwing out a bamboo stick which had a number printed on it. Then they also threw the two wooden blocks for a few times.

I just thought I will try the numbers, so I shook the casket to remove a number and asked Anand to do the same. Then around the corner on the wall there was a wooden cabinet which had some printed papers categorized by numbers. I instantly connected these with the numbers that we got and knew that this was some kind of forecast. So, I removed a paper for each of our numbers but they were in Thai and Chinese. Anyways I pocketed them thinking may be I’ll find some one knowing Thai. I could have tried the Hotel but we had checked out and we were already on our way to airport.

Once we came out of the temple building I saw a Thai lady standing outside. On impulse I walked up to her and asked her if she could read the papers. She said yes, and she read the papers of both the numbers. Sadly both the numbers were unlucky. Then she introduced herself and told us that she was the guide who took daily tours to Wat Chalong but that day was her off day. How lucky for us that even then we found her there, she explained that she came to show the temple to her friends.

She told us everything about the temple and also explained how to perform the prayers. Very interesting! She said that the two wooden blocks are for a yes no type of questions that you want God to answer. So first you pray then you take the two blocks in your palm close it, ask the question in your head and throw the blocks, till you get the blocks as one up and the other down. But this can be tried only for three times. If within this three chances you get the opposites then it’s a yes otherwise the answer is no.

She also told the correct way to shake out the lucky number and since we had got bad numbers she said that we can throw it or return them to the cabinet. Only good numbers should be carried home. Some people also tie the bad numbers on the huge tamarind tree and the tamarind are black color as it is taking all the evil from the bad numbers.

I am quite broad minded, and at the same time superstitious about some things. I simply believe that if it does not harm anyone then superstitions are okay.

After this we went to other buildings but since it was already 5 the buildings were closed. So if you are visiting Wat Chalong make it way before 5 p.m. And click lots of pictures which probably you will not get to do at most temples.
