I Drive a Ferrari!!!
Had taken an off from work today. We got up really late, there’s nothing more relaxing than sleeping in till late. It was already 11 and over our usual morning cuppa we contemplated the load of work piled over the week.
Looking at Anand I gathered that even he wasn’t looking forward to any of those. So I ask Anand “What was your picture of married life?â€
He became really excited and said “Both of us enjoying Cricket together, chatting about the Formula One, talking politics….†Oh bad this is getting worse. So I stop him. My urge to write the book “Why women love shopping and men love Cricket†is becoming stronger by the minute.
And then he asks the same to me, and I also gave my version “My picture had us having long extended talks, romantic dinners, doing things together†and as if it wasn’t enough I added “Simply being together†his expressions told me how simple it all sounded to him.
And then he said “haven’t we both seen the same picture of enjoying togetherâ€. “Well†I trailed “Your picture has F1, cricket and politics alsoâ€. And he does not quite get the problem. Looking at his disturbed face I almost mentally decided to show some more interest in the cricket test series going on now days. See I don’t even know which series it is.
I think this happens in most of the marriages both the sexes have different meaning of togetherness. And to tell you more, at that moment I flicked the channel and came across Martha Stewart show, introduction of the guest of the day. This particular scene caught my interest: A woman is introducing herself to 3 men and they are just looking through her and then she says “I drive a Ferrari†and all three of them jump up saying “You drive a Ferrari!!!â€. So there you go, it took a Ferrari to get the attention of these three men inside the tube and one man outside the tube.
(Oh no girls don’t be disheartened it is only post marriage that they start enjoying Ferraris more..)
Okay let’s give the poor Ferrari a brake (oops break). I need to come back to the real picture of marriage and back to my weekly routine of laundry and cleaning. God, of all the people I am missing my maid.
