Boss on medical leave
Just last week I got a mail from my boss saying “Heads up: Medical leave plan”. According to the mail he was going on leave for about 15 days.. I was concerned and when I met him during a discussion I simply asked him what happened and why does he need to be operated.
He told me “Powls”.. I have never heard that before so I asked him what that is.. Slightly embarrassed, he explained me. I am going to spare you the details but I realized that he was talking about “Piles”. That’s why he was “slightly embarrassed”. I was wondering why he had to make it sound so stylish.. Powls. And why didn’t he simply spell it out instead of explaining what the problem is.
I was simply concerned and acted so but wasn’t prepared for the details. I understand that Piles is serious problem and it’s common to be operated for that. But I could only make a concerned look appear on my face.
This was the subject of much laughter later. No not the problem but the whole incidence.
A few days back after my boss went on leave he called me to touch base on the project status and general health of the project. After the call I simply told him “Take care” then he started off “Yes, although I am working from home but I cannot sit for long.. So after an hour or so I have to take rest.. I am feeling very weak.”’
I wondered how he could even sit forget doing that for an hour. More than weakness I could only imagine the pain. Anyways I wished him to get well soon and kept the phone.
There are some medical problems which no one should suffer from. This is one of those. Now you might say why only some problems. Cos, life is not perfect and so is health. And if at all we should suffer in order to make it a little imperfect let it be something like mild stomach-ache, headache or say cold or cough.
Wishful thinking!!
