First Impression: Singapore

Singapore, as truly said is unique. The first thing that hits you about Singapore is its multi ethnicity: people of different origin, language and culture have come together and contributed to the unique flavor that Singapore has to offer to the world.
My first glimpse of Singapore was limited to the Changi Airport, transit area. This was back in 2004 February on my way to Japan. The second time was on my return journey. But this time, I got more time to explore the airport area. Changi is one of the best airports of the world. I indulged myself into some duty free shopping of perfumes and chocolates. The items you generally tend to carry back as gifts. I also ate at a south Indian restaurant, a treat after 4 months of Japanese food.

The third visit was on our honeymoon. The city tour was great, with a chinese lady as our tour guide who kept talking fast about Singapore, its people and places to visit. Botanical Garden, Esplanade, Merlion, a gem’s factory, a Chinese temple, raffles place, orchard road in just half a day. And I wondered what else is left. Sentosa was beautiful with the Musical fountain show and the underwater world. And another half a day was gone. Then came Mustafa Center which was too crowded to be shoppers delight. Though it is incredible how it has become a must visit for anyone and everyone visiting Singapore. How can I forget the food, one can find all kinds of sea food here. The food courts are a treat, u get what u c and cheap too.
And the best part is everyone speaks English or Singlish. And getting around is also easy. So, this is really a traveller’s paradise.

Now, I am here for work and have been here for a few months and my first impression remains. I am still exploring the city, the food court, the malls and more. And believe me, I am loving this city more and more.
